The official website of the Orange County Stand Down
Our Mission is to help United States Veterans who are homeless, displaced, disabled or otherwise in transition become integrated into our community by providing them a continuum of opportunities through the Stand Down for Homeless Veterans and Veterans Resource Expo.
Our intention is to host two events in 2016 that will target Veterans who are seeking a hand up and not a hand out.
. Our first event will focus on “Veteran’s Employment” and will be held in Anaheim as part of the 9/11 Day of Service Rally, in partnership with OneOC. Since this will be the 15th anniversary from the time when the tragedies hit our U.S. shores, this rally will be a great way to bring our community together to support veteran initiatives and community volunteerism.
We will invite a number of staffing agencies who will present workshops on Linked In, Resume writing and Interviewing techniques and send out an open invitation to any Veteran, working or not, to attend at no cost.
. The second event will focus on healthcare, housing and legal services to be hosted by the VA and the Orange County Rescue Mission at a site near our homeless veterans. An array of services will be available to any veteran at this event, scheduled for November 5.
Family services, clothing, and educational information will be valuable additions to this event and we encourage all of you to participate.
In order to accomplish these new goals, we will continue to need support of our partners, community groups and volunteer peer mentors as well. If you are interested in being part of these high-impact service events, please respond to this email directly. We will be posting updates on our website.
